Sudden or severe dental problems punctuate dental emergencies. A severe toothache, a knocked-out tooth, or a broken dental restoration will require immediate care. Our professional dental team is here to help patients find the best solutions to their oral health problems. Additionally, if you have a medical emergency, please visit the hospital before our office. We can provide dental care once you receive proper medical care.
Types of Dental Emergencies
There are multiple common dental emergencies that we see in our office. Please contact our Haddonfield or Marlton office if you or a loved one have a dental emergency:
Knocked Out Tooth
Have you just lost a tooth? If you can retrieve your knocked-out tooth, hold it by its crown or top. Do not touch the tooth roots. Gently rinse the tooth in water and try to place the tooth back in its socket. Place the tooth in a cup of saliva to transport to our office if you cannot place the tooth back. Keeping the tooth moist increases our chances of reattaching the tooth. We can also provide a dental implant-supported crown if we cannot reattach the tooth. Dental implants replace tooth roots and can ensure that restorations like dental crowns feel and function as naturally as possible.
Tooth Pain
There can be many causes of tooth pain, from a dental injury to impacted wisdom teeth. If you have sudden, severe tooth pain, take a and call our office. We will thoroughly examine the smile to determine the cause of your pain. Depending on your needs, we may recommend a root canal, tooth extraction, or restoration to protect your affected tooth.
Broken or Injured Tooth
If you have just broken or chipped a tooth, try to find any broken pieces (if applicable). Rinse your damaged tooth with warm water and place a warm compress to prevent swelling. Contact our office, and we can recommend the right treatment to cover and protect your tooth. We can provide dental bonding if you have a chipped tooth, veneers if you have a hit to your tooth, or a dental crown if you have a large tooth fracture.
Lost Dental Filling or Tooth Crown
If you have lost a dental filling or dental crown, please contact us for a replacement. Losing a filling can leave your tooth prone to possible infection. A worn or broken tooth otherwise covered by a crown can create an imbalanced bite and lead to further tooth damage. We can provide you with a temporary restoration and plan your permanent replacement.
